Built in the early '20s, the El Jobean Hotel originally catered to avid fishermen who pursued their sport on the adjacent SW Florida Gulf waters. A handful of movie stars boarded here during filming sessions. Eventually it was purchased by a couple of circus performers, and housed their many colorful friends. In 1999 the property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although in ramshackle condition now, it is starting to show signs of future restoration.
